About Our School
The Corner School was established in 1956 by a group of involved parents who wanted high-quality preschool education for their children. Today we continue in the tradition of high-quality education in a small nurturing environment. Our Pre-k and 3-K programs offer the excitement of becoming a part of a classroom community and foster a love of learning that will continue throughout their school years.

The Corner School Mission

The Corner School Philosophy
Our mission is to provide high quality early childhood education. We encourage parents to be actively involved in our community. Our caring, nurturing, and enriched environment fosters a love of learning and inspires each child to realize their full potential.
We believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged in meaningful learning through free exploration and play. The Corner School provides developmentally appropriate programs for our children’s age and stages of development. Our purpose is to provide a warm, inviting, and well-equipped environment in which children feel welcome, safe, and successful.
Our Programs

3-K Program
Our 3-K program gives our youngest learners a joyful first experience in a safe, nurturing and engaging environment. Our teachers and staff work together with families to ensure each child feels secure, accepted and encouraged. We follow the NYCDOE Creative Curriculum which emphasizes play-based learning and structured routines while balancing free exploration with teacher-led activities. Daily routines help the children feel confident and secure. We help children learn to listen, take turns and build on early social skills and independence.

Pre-K Program
Our Pre-K program provides a safe and nurturing environment where we foster not only academic skills but also emotional intelligence, social skills, physical development and independence. The Creative Curriculum integrates early literacy, math, science and art through hands-on experiences. Children explore letters and sounds, count and sort, investigate nature, and create using music, art and dramatic play. They will be ready to transition into kindergarten with skills in language, math concepts, problem-solving, and the ability to follow routines and work independently.
